Interviews, Sex & Lies in Sin City
1 Comment Mena talks Sex and Lies
I found this little tidbit of Mena talking about the upcoming “Sex and Lies in Sin City”;
If a Las Vegas casino tycoon was killed by his stripper girlfriend and her alleged lover, some charges against them didn’t stick – which is why a new Lifetime movie about the case had to tread carefully, as did its stars.
Ted Binion’s flamboyant lifestyle, involving heroin and marijuana use, made his 1998 death from an apparent overdose not that far a stretch. Or, at least, not initially: Circumstances led authorities to decide it wasn’t a suicide and to arrest Sandy Murphy and Rick Tabish, but the convictions were overturned by the Nevada Supreme Court. In a 2004 retrial, they were acquitted of murder but sentenced for conspiracy.
Based on the Jeff German book “Murder in Sin City” and directed by veteran filmmaker Peter Medak (“The Ruling Class”), the film also stars Matthew Modine (“Full Metal Jacket”) as Binion and Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden (“Pollock”) as his sister Becky, shown in the film expressing many misgivings about Sandy.
“As a woman, it’s challenging to find interesting, meaty roles,” Suvari says, “and this is really an amazing story. I’ve always been fascinated by human behavior. Many times, people try to come up with a story that can be unusual, but you have enough twisted things that happen in real life.”
Sex and Lies in Sin City will be airring on LifeTime TV on October 25th
I wonder if Mena reads these post? I say she has a role that she can sink her teeth in, she says she likes meaty roles. Interesting.
