We know that actors are creative - but some have added painting to their repertoire, and they’re wielding the brush with a purpose. Mena Suvari, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Susan Sarandon and other celebs each have painted canvases in shades of scarlet, crimson, claret and vermilion to raise awareness and mark February as American Heart Month. This effort to educate and help is part of a collaboration between John Frieda Radiant Red and WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease. Each painting will be sold in an auction on eBay, running until Feb. 11, and proceeds will go to WomenHeart.
WomenHeart is the only national patient-advocacy organization that serves the 8 million women who live with heart disease and work to improve their quality of life and health care. This organization sponsors training conferences, organizes support networks and also provides resources on its Web site (www.WomenHeart.com).

Mena Suvari has recently declared she spent years to prove that she is a talented and hard working actress, who does not fit only the parts she was cast in for her innocent look.
The 26-year-old American actress is aware of the fact that some people assume she lacks depth because of her delicate appearance.
“Looking innocent has only tormented me. I don’t feel the way people see me, so it’s been a life challenge”, Mena said.
“I’m petite and I have big blue eyes, so people assume I’m young and flippant. But there’s so much more in there”, the actress added.
“People have been surprised by the choices I’ve made because they don’t fit with my image. When I made Spun people didn’t recognize me. It was shocking to me that they were shocked. I just thought, why not do it?”, the actress declared. Continue Reading…

he American Legacy Foundation® today named actress Mena Suvari as the latest celebrity ambassador to its Circle of Friends®: Uniting to Be Smoke-Free program. As an ambassador, Suvari will advocate for healthy lifestyle choices and encourage support for women who are trying to quit smoking.
Suvari’s film credits include a star-making turn in American Beauty, and appearances in American Pie and its sequel American Pie 2. She is currently featured in the film Beauty Shop, co-starring with Queen Latifah, Kevin Bacon, Alicia Silverstone, and Andie McDowell.
The Circle of Friends program is a national grassroots movement dedicated to educating women about the dangers of tobacco-related diseases and addiction, and highlighting the importance of supporting smokers who want to quit. Each year in the U.S., 178,000 women die from tobacco-related diseases, including heart disease, cancers, emphysema, and stroke. In fact, lung cancer, which is primarily caused by smoking, is the leading cancer killer of women.
Like many young people, Ms. Suvari started smoking in her teens. After a few years, she quit with help and support from her family and friends. The recent loss of an aunt to a tobacco-related disease as a result of secondhand smoke, coupled with her firsthand experience with the difficult process of quitting smoking, prompted her to speak out. Her aunt died at an early age and left behind a husband and two children. Continue Reading…
