New York Fashion Week S/S 2012 recap

Mena recently went to New York Fashion Week (like she would miss it!) and was front row at Christian Siriano and Rock & Rupublic (more pics to come soon!). She has been getting mush praise for her work with Christian and being the face for his line.

Mena Suvari is “stunning” says Christian Siriano.

The actress has been cast as the star of the designer’s Spring/Summer 2012 campaign and is modelling upmarket creations in his first video lookbook.

The blonde beauty can be seen strutting down the corridors of a posh New York hotel in an Audrey Hepburn-esque combination of black sunglasses and a lime-green fitted dress.

In another scene she shows off her stunning looks in a dramatic coral-coloured evening gown while gallivanting in a luxury suite.

Christian was thrilled to work with the Hollywood star.

“She is stunning, an amazing actress and I really wanted this video to have real-life emotions and feeling behind it, which I don’t think I would have been able to capture with just a model,” Christian told US publication People.

“I wanted this video to feel elegant and dramatic but still have a chic downtown vibe. I also really wanted to show the collection in a different light than just a typical runway show.”

Mena shot to fame thanks to her role in US movie franchise American Pie but has also developed a career in fashion.

She is a face of Lancôme cosmetics and print ads for Lancôme Paris Adaptîve.

The 32-year-old has also featured in several fashion blogs and magazines such as Vogue. © Cover Media

Mena adore’s Christian – as a friend and designer.

”I love Christian,” she told InStyle.com. “Number one, we’re friends, and I just think he’s an absolute sweetheart and unbelievably talented. To express your vision like that is phenomenal.”

American Reunion in Melbourne!

I AM SO EXCITED! Mena is coming to AUSTRALIA and to Melbourne! Not too far from me! I would of love to of gone and see the premiere but sadly work commitments wont allow it! Maybe next time!

From Herald Sun: AMERICAN PIE fans are in for a treat with the movie’s stars heading to Melbourne.

Cast favourites including Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari, Chris Klein, Tara Reid and Eugene Levy will be in town on March 7 for the premiere of American Pie: Reunion.

The Australian premiere is at Hoyts Melbourne Central.

The group, who made us laugh and cringe with the original hit in 1999, will attend a photo call in Sydney on March 6. They, as well as filmmakers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, are expected to be in Melbourne for a few days.

Fashion Week… and of course Mena is there!

Mena has flew out to New York to support friend, Christian Siriano for New York Fashion Week and looked stunning at the showing wearing head-to-toe Siriano.

E News posted:

Suvari told E! News she loved the collection and flew in just for the day to see the show. The newlywed had to get back to her husband, music producer Simone Sestito, whom she married last June in Italy. “Married life is wonderful, being together is the best part,” she told us. Suvari also mentioned she’s next working on a movie with Amy Smart called Shopping for Boys in which they play two best friends looking for love.

Ohh! Can’t wait to hear a bit more about ‘Shopping For Boys‘ – sounds interesting! I wonder what shows we will also see her at?

Next Day Update…

NYMag.com posted:

Of all the things a celebrity wants to hear from a photographer, we imagine that “Come over here, we promise we won’t hurt you” — delivered in a tone last heard from one of the major players from Hansel and Gretel — is toward the bottom of the list (right next to “Woohoo, you forgot your underwear!”). We suspect that’s why, when one of the photographers at Christian Siriano on Thursday night said exactly that to Mena Suvari, she simply pretended she didn’t hear anything. Denial: still one of the best ways to handle the unpleasant.

Luckily, being weirdly menaced by a member of the press didn’t seem to faze Mena too much. She made it to her seat unmolested and stayed late to chat cheerfully with a gaggle of reporters about her home projects: “I’m working on sewing classes!” she chirped, confessing that she has used her newfound skills to make pajama pants. “I’m trying to finish my pajama shirt — it’s taken me like two weeks,” she laughed. “I had no idea what I was getting into. This is my first Fashion Week since learning all that, and I’m looking at every little detail on the runway. It’s like, ‘Oh, that’s pretty,’ but you have no idea how much goes into making something like that.” She did seem to be studying the show closely — and it was a show, being as it came complete with several falls from models walking in too-tall shoes, including one that brought the poor girl to her hands and knees. Afterward, we overheard Mena telling someone that she was “dying to walk the runway,” which shows a certain bravery after seeing the bloodbath that this one was.
