Australia’s Guy Pearce is being eyed to star in the film adaptation of Stuart Browne’s “Dangerous Parking”.

To be directed by Peter Howitt ["Sliding Doors"], the film tells of a filmmaker and alcoholic (Pearce), who has led quite a seedy life - sex, drugs and rock and roll, and then some - but decides its time for a reevaluation when he’s diagnosed with cancer.

Mena Suvari is also being tipped for a role in the film.

It’s unknown when “Parking” would get off the ground : Pearce has just started filming “First Snow” with Piper Perabo and next up will shoot “I Believe in America” with Luis Guzman and Hector Elizondo. The always dependable Suvari is also pretty busy.

Speaking of which, Suvari told Moviehole a bit about her next pic, “Domino”, on the weekend. “Domino was a great movie to work on”, she says. “Tony Scott is one of the best directors that I have worked with. He is so passionate about what he does and adds so much energy and inspiration to the set environment”. The film - headlined by Keira Knightley - does look like quite a treat actually.

More news on “Dangerous Parking” - which Danny Boyle was being lined up to do a couple of years back - as it comes to hand.

Suvari Talks Domino

DominoFilm News

After relatively sparse activity in the past few years, Mena Suvari could have as many as six features to her credit in 2005 alone. Among those films is a role in Tony Scott’s wild new film, Domino. The film stars Keira Knightley and Mickey Rourke (to name only a few) as bounty hunters. Christopher Walken is the host of a reality TV show that is following the bounty hunters around as they do their job, and Suvari plays Walken’s assistant.

Suvari was on hand at the Beauty Shop junket this weekend and I asked her about her role in Domino. “Talk about wacky, my God. If you think [Beauty Shop] has a lot of characters, I can’t even begin to tell this story.”

Suvari laughs when I bring up her character’s name. “Kimmi! I had the best time working on that. First of all, Tony Scott is phenomenal. He is just such a ball of energy to work with and just a completely unique experience from any other that I’ve had. And Christopher, I had no idea, I mean I was thrilled, I was just so excited I couldn’t even contain myself, but I had no idea what it was going to be like. I mean, he’s like a legend. I was thinking, ‘Is he only going to come out to do his lines and then go back in his trailer?’ [He is] the most down to earth, so hilarious, and the thing about him is, I think he was really just messing with me the whole time we were working together, because he is so subdued, but, it’s like if you had a sentence to say, if you had anybody say it, that’s great. But when he says it, it’s his own and he’s just so funny. There was never a time where I could not get through a scene until I worked on this movie, because he would just have me dying inside cracking up laughing. I almost wanted to say, I can’t do it anymore. Continue Reading…
