Mena signs up for “The Captain”

The TheDrinksBusiness.com reports that Diageo is teaming up with Hollywood actress Mena Suvari to launch a new global multi-media campaign for its Captain Morgan’s Spiced rum brand.

“The Captain’s Island”, a campaign run via the Captain Morgan Facebook page, will give the brand’s fans an opportunity to win a trip to a private Caribbean island and a share of US$15,000.

Suvari has been brought on board to help tell the story of “The Captain’s Island” .

The campaign, also supported across a variety of platforms including TV, online and experiential, will run in 13 different markets across the world – US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Russia, Argentina, Mexico, Peru and Costa Rica.

Suvari, currently filming American Reunion (the fourth film in the American Pie series), will play a key part in getting news of “The Captain’s Island” to consumers and encouraging them to participate via media interviews, photoshoots and through her appearances in a number of branded online videos.

Suvari will also be present on “The Captain’s Island” as Captain Morgan’s island reporter, interviewing consumers who have made it that far and commentating on highlight videos from the final.

Captain Morgan has commandeered an island in the Caribbean and contestants on the island will participate in a series of beach and island themed challenges.

There will be five challenges and the winning team from each will receive a chest that may or may not have the US$15,000 prize fund inside.

Talking about “Shopping For Boys”

Fashion News Live has posted an interview with Mena from Fashion Week where she talks a little more about ‘Shopping For Boys‘ with Amy Smart. It’s being produced by Paramount Digital and will be delivered online for a 90 minute film which means everyone no matter where you are in the world should be able to see it which is really exciting (especially for myself down here in Australia – I always feel like I’m the last to see Mena’s work!) – check out the video below where Mena talks a little about it (around the 2.30 mark).

American Pie 4

Heather MAYBE back!

The New York Post posts;

When news of a fourth “American Pie” movie, starring the original cast, broke last week it was oddly timed to star Sean William Scott entering rehab for “health and personal issues.” But that speedbump hasn’t stalled the development one iota.

“We’re all moving forward with the negotiation process,” OG star Mena Suvari told PopWrap yesterday. “I think it sounds like a lot of fun – especially with the ‘Harold & Kumar’ guys in charge. It’s gonna be a huge blast!”

For Mena, returning to the franchise is a no-brainer since the first film allowed her to live out several unfulfilled high school experiences.

“I moved so many times in my life and was all about academics, so I didn’t go to prom or really care about any of that stuff. Working on ‘American Pie’ gave me this amazing high school experience — I had a hot boyfriend, was in choir and went to prom [laughs]. You can’t beat that!”

As for where her character Heather might be today, Mena hasn’t heard one way or the other, but she has some thoughts: “[Heather] was a good girl in choir so I hope they keep her on that path. But as long as she’s somewhere fabulous, I’m cool with it!”

Seann William Scott signed on to reprise the party animal character in another American Pie, to begin shooting in just weeks (due to start May 24th 2011), despite entering treatment. Scott, 34, is reportedly set to join Jason Biggs and Eugene Levy for another piece of Pie, and Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge are in negotiations to return.

Also check out The Wrap for some more little tidbits. I am all for another slice!

Fashion Week… and of course Mena is there!

Mena has flew out to New York to support friend, Christian Siriano for New York Fashion Week and looked stunning at the showing wearing head-to-toe Siriano.

E News posted:

Suvari told E! News she loved the collection and flew in just for the day to see the show. The newlywed had to get back to her husband, music producer Simone Sestito, whom she married last June in Italy. “Married life is wonderful, being together is the best part,” she told us. Suvari also mentioned she’s next working on a movie with Amy Smart called Shopping for Boys in which they play two best friends looking for love.

Ohh! Can’t wait to hear a bit more about ‘Shopping For Boys‘ – sounds interesting! I wonder what shows we will also see her at?

Next Day Update…

NYMag.com posted:

Of all the things a celebrity wants to hear from a photographer, we imagine that “Come over here, we promise we won’t hurt you” — delivered in a tone last heard from one of the major players from Hansel and Gretel — is toward the bottom of the list (right next to “Woohoo, you forgot your underwear!”). We suspect that’s why, when one of the photographers at Christian Siriano on Thursday night said exactly that to Mena Suvari, she simply pretended she didn’t hear anything. Denial: still one of the best ways to handle the unpleasant.

Luckily, being weirdly menaced by a member of the press didn’t seem to faze Mena too much. She made it to her seat unmolested and stayed late to chat cheerfully with a gaggle of reporters about her home projects: “I’m working on sewing classes!” she chirped, confessing that she has used her newfound skills to make pajama pants. “I’m trying to finish my pajama shirt — it’s taken me like two weeks,” she laughed. “I had no idea what I was getting into. This is my first Fashion Week since learning all that, and I’m looking at every little detail on the runway. It’s like, ‘Oh, that’s pretty,’ but you have no idea how much goes into making something like that.” She did seem to be studying the show closely — and it was a show, being as it came complete with several falls from models walking in too-tall shoes, including one that brought the poor girl to her hands and knees. Afterward, we overheard Mena telling someone that she was “dying to walk the runway,” which shows a certain bravery after seeing the bloodbath that this one was.
